The kabata system in Harie

The village of Harie is located on the alluvial fan in the lower reaches of the Ado River, with the Harie Okawa River flowing almost directly through the center. Snow and rainfall from the Hira mountain range generates underflow that turns to crystal-clean spring water called shozu that is freely available in every home. The people of Harie use shozu as their daily water supply, under a unique system known as kabata.
Visitors come from all over Japan and even outside Japan to marvel at the ultimate eco-friendly lifestyle, the beautiful scenery, and the engaging locals.
Note: Local tour guide required. Contact Harie Shozu no Sato Committee Tel: 0740-25-6566
